SHAWN JAMES
Alone (Nemo 1)
Des Says:
In this exercise of presenting post-Nemo bios for all authors
who have appeared in the Nemonymous canon, I realised that I would
not be able to contact some of them or, even, some of them wouldn't
contact me following receipt of my request for the bio! :-)
I do intend to do my own 'item' on any of these.
The first of these is Shawn James (author of the SF classic in Nemo
One: ALONE) whom I have not even attempted to email, having long
since lost contact with him. A Canadian author - according to his
own original denemonisation - who has a love of solitude, but can
never find it. Also that "he navigates his car ... turning left when
his wife says right, and right when his wife says left". He also had
a novel entitled 'Mr Snuffles Needs A Hug'.
Shawn had a historic part to play in the history of Nemonymity, which
probably very few Nemo devotees would recall. He was the first
author to be denemonised. Gary Couzens was officially the first
author in literary history to be denemonised - having the first story
in Nemo One. However, Shawn had earlier accidentally and prematurely
denemonised himself in public, a fact for which he apologised.

BRIAN HOWELL
Mobile, Phone (Nemo 3)
I have been working on a prequel to my historical novel about Vermeer, working title "The Stream and the Torrent", about another real-life mysterious Dutch painter and his relation to an optical device and various Renaissance characters. Fours years in and maybe a few to go. I have had the odd publication since my Nemo appearance and when this novel is bagged I intend to follow it up with some shorter novels, one on a real-life turn-of-the-19th-century Austrian poet, the other on a Japanese theme, an expansion of one of my stories in 'The Sound of White Ants', that shouldn't hopefully take quite so long.
