Gary McMahon / Robyn Alezanders

GARY MCMAHON

"My Burglar" Nemo 4
"New Science" Nemo 5

How they are getting on:
Struggling to write a novel. Debut short novel and story collection
("Rough Cut" – from Pendragon Press and "Dirty Prayers" from Gray
Friar Press) being published later this year. Working like a dog on a
new novella titled "All Your Gods Are Dead".

What difference (if any) Nemo had on their career or whatever:
Difficult to say. Gary's appearance in Nemo 4 resulted in his first
ever fan mail! Several people sent emails congratulating him on the
story. His Nemo 5 story has also garnered a lot of interest – and an
Honourable Mention from Ellen Datlow.

ROBYN ALEZANDERS
Soul Stains (Nemonymous 5)

How I am Getting On:
I am plying away at city (Philadelphia) reporting with my own weekly column, which can be viewed for a good chuckle at http://www.philly1.com/ Were I able to give it up to pursue my fiction full time........aaahhh such is the mantra of many a writer obsessed and haunted by certain characters compelled to be released into the literary world........
Two of my poems are however due to appear in the anthology "From the Garden of the Gods", once again tickling my fancy that my work truly is appealing.......

What Difference (if any) Nemo has Made:
“Soul Stains” was my first fiction sale, and I cannot say enough of what an honour it is to credit the Nemonymous series as its home. I had tried three times before (with other stories) to impress Des as he put together previous Nemos, and while he did reply with wonderful remarks, alas, I did not make the final cuts. I readily admit that my stories are niche, and Des gave me what I needed – that “Soul Stains,” which is one of many works that defines my style, can find its audience. Now all I need is for that editor and publisher that possesses Des’ intellect, wit, and creativity, to take me under wing................I don’t think it the least bit coincidental that every other writer to have had the pleasure of being involved with Des and Nemo says pretty much the same thing – of what a transcendental experience it has been to us as artists.................
