ROBERT MORRISH
Adult Books (Nemo 2)

How Am I Getting On?
Quite well, thanks, if much too busy (no different than most everyone
in that regard, I suppose). Besides too many hours spent at my "day
job," I continue to edit 'Cemetery Dance' magazine, a post I've held
for the past 20 issues (can't believe how quickly the time has
passed). Since "Adult Books" appeared, I've published 15-20 stories,
and some have been quite well-received -- most notably "The
Outsider," the first and only Western story I've ever written, which
appeared in the mass-market anthology "Texas Rangers" and which was
selected as one of three finalists for Best Short Story of the Year
by the Western Writers of America. Sadly, I have not written much
fiction over the past year -- I think my reduced output has resulted
from a combination of frustration over several anthologies folding
before they could publish stories they'd acquired from me, and the
aforementioned "too busy." I remain hopeful, however, of picking up
the pace!

What difference Nemo made:
More than anything, it gave me a sense of freedom to write in a
different way than "the norm" for me -- even though I've written
little enough that I technically shouldn't have a "norm," habits and
tendencies nonetheless creep into one's writing (at least into mine).
Shortly after "Adult Books" was published, I was inspired to write
another very different (for me) story, one which was selected for the
anthology to which it was submitted, but which still awaits
publication (the antho has been l-o-n-g delayed). When it finally
appears, I'll be interested to see what the reaction is... and
hopefully inspired, once again, to write more adventurously. As Simon
Clark said so perfectly: "If anything Nemo has become a little voice
in the back of my head telling me to be more courageous and more
adventurous with my writing."

TERRY GATES-GRIMWOOD
The Friends Of Mike Santini (Nemo 1)
Chemo (Nemo 3)

What's Occurring?
I have a novel called "The Places Between" due out from Pendragon
Press next year. A tale of mine called "Nobody Walks In London" (a
long ago Nemo rejection!) is featured in Omnidawn's "Paraspheres"
anthology. I've been invited to read at one of the book launch
parties in the USA in September! Also "A Child is a Woman's" is due
in a future edition of "All Hallows". I am a local history speaker,
my subjects being "R101" (the dramatic and tragic story of the
biggest aircraft in the world) and "Matthew Hopkins: The Witchfinder
General". If anyone knows a group in need of a speaker then let me
know. Oh, and I've become a college lecturer and met a wonderful lady
poet who has soothed the pain and brought the light back.

What's Occurred?
Appearances in a steady flow of publications such as "Midnight
Street", "Dark Animus", "Whispers of Wickedness" - including a
chapbook called "Demons and Demons", "FutureFire" and "SciFantastic".
And there was the play: "Tales from the Nightside" which consisted of
two adaptations of my published stories "Jar of Flies" and "The
Friends of Mike Santini". Sadly, I lost my wife, which was a tragedy
of unspeakable proportions and will, no doubt remain a defining event
in my life.

When Terry Met Nemonymous:
Several of the stories that have been or are awaiting publication are
stories I originally wrote, in one form or another, as Nemonymous
submissions. Okay, so hey didn't fulfil their original intent, but
each one has gone on to gather laurels of their own in other
publications. So, if it wasn't for Nemonymous, they would never have
been written. Nemonymous itself however, was an astonishing
experience. Not only was I part of a much talked about and
artistically successful (how many "Honourable Mentions" did the
megazanthus garner?) venture, but I joined a community of diverse,
yet like-minded souls. I miss the steady flow of e-mails. Writing is
lonely; it's good to know there are others out there. Finally, of
course, there's those "...Friends of Mike Santini" who took on a life
of their own in the capable hands of the Masque Players...
