Ian Nichols

====================================

IAN NICHOLS
Shark In A Foggy Sea (Nemo 3)

Ian Nichols has been many things, none of them particularly profitable. Far too easily distracted to complete very much, he has written a few short stories and a couple of novels, one of which lies at the bottom of a trunk somewhere and the other is doing the rounds of the publishers. A shallow person of no great convictions, he has largely survived by being personable and bright enough to leave before the bricks start flying. Bald, fat and wondering how his wife puts up with him, he's working on many projects, including a PhD. This last is partly an excuse to leave the Dantean world of teaching before it kills him. Fifty-eight as this is written, he wonders where it all went, and then remembers. His least favourite line from any film, because it is so true, is "I coulda bin a contender."

Or, more appropriately:
Despite people liking my story in Nemo, I've continued my path of intensive obscurity. I've had a few more short stories published, finished a novel for my MA, and I'm working on another novel for my PhD. One of these days I really must get around to sending out some of my stuff.
